What is coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)?
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. The virus that causes COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that was first identified during an investigation into an outbreak in Wuhan, China.
There are simple everyday preventive actions to
help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses.
These include:
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with
unwashed hands.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.

Family Resource Guide
Article Submission Request
Dear Community Partner,
Every year, the Children’s Services Council of Broward County produces a Family Resource Guide. We will soon begin production of the 2020-21 edition. The Guide includes a full listing of agencies and organizations that serve children and families in Broward, important information from the School Board of Broward County, informative articles on child safety, education and development, and a full listing, by zip code, of child care centers and the services they offer. It is produced in four languages.
Over 175,000 hard copies are distributed county-wide through schools, pediatric offices, markets, child serving organizations, and at community events. The Guide is also featured online with articles shared with other local publications. If you would like to contribute an article on subjects related to Family Life, Health & Safety, Child Development, or Child Care, we invite you to submit a manuscript to the following specifications:
A. 700-800 words
B. It must be “generic” to the subject, i.e., not an advertorial for any organization
C. It must include a byline, with the author’s qualifications
D. As an epilogue, we are happy to include information specific to the author’s agency or organization.
Articles should be submitted no later than March 27, 2020 for consideration. As space is limited; we regret not being able to print every article submitted. We will endeavor, however, to share every article submitted on our website as part of our News feature. For more information, please contact Andrew Leone, Director of Communications and Community Engagement, 954-377-1119 or aleone@cscbroward.org
Thank you!
If you care about securing federal resources for schools, hospitals, roads, infrastructure and representation for Broward county and our very diverse population, do the right thing and be counted!
In this episode former State Senator and current Broward County Commissioner Nan Rich; Jose Perez, Director of Marketing and Strategic Communications for Broward County Public Schools; Urban League of Broward County Community Relations Coordinator, Emmanuela Jean-Etienne, and Renee Jaffe, President and CEO of the Early Learning Coalition of Broward County discuss the importance of an accurate Census count.
