Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is the proud recipient of a $45,000 YouthWORK grant from the Community Foundation of Broward County. The grant supports the Career Technical Adult and Community Education (CTACE) Department’s Career Launch Pre-Apprenticeship Program, and provides opportunities for 11th and 12th grade students at three high schools – McArthur High School, Piper High School and Plantation High School – to learn technical skills and earn an OSHA 10 industry certification.
Students will receive training for careers in the construction field, such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical and carpentry, during and after school. In addition, 11th grade students will have paid internship opportunities during the summer to gain hands-on experience in construction. Students will also earn credits toward college or enrollment in a full apprenticeship program when they graduate.
