Trainer Cadre RFQ
The Children’s Services Council of Broward County (CSC) announces the release of two Requests for Qualifications (RFQ), one for new trainers and one for existing trainers.
These RFQ’s allow us to sustain a cadre of training experts to provide culturally reflective training of the diverse population that makes up Broward County, i.e., gender, race, and religion. This cadre will enable CSC to continue engaging the most proficient and skilled trainers to meet the needs of individuals and nonprofit organizations serving children and families in our community.
CAPITOL CONNECTION 2021
Capitol Connection is a weekly email update sent during the Legislative Session to keep you informed of all proposed legislation related to children, youth, and families in Florida. Through this newsletter, we aim to provide you with concise and timely information regarding current public policy issues.
BROWARD AWARE! 20/21
The Broward AWARE! Protecting OUR Children Committee coordinates activities and events that promote resources preventing child abuse and neglect. This includes Pinwheel for Prevention themed activity during the month of April, which is Child Abuse Prevention Month, the end of our campaign. Please show your support by following along with activities, seminars, and book-readings listed here for your convenience!
For Child Abuse Prevention Month, Broward AWARE! presents the books «Somebody Cares» and «My Body is Special», read by the officers and staff of Broward Sheriff’s Office. We hope you will enjoy and share these recordings!

COVID-19: TESTING, VACCINATIONS, UPDATES, AND RESOURCES
A new Broward County program can pay up to 12 months in past due rent and utilities if renters have experienced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Broward County Commission has launched an Emergency Rental Assistance program for residents who have been impacted by Covid-19 and meet certain income requirements. This Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP), is different than previous programs offered, so even if renters were not qualified for, or elected not to participate in, other rental assistance programs, they should take a moment to review this new assistance.
Tenants and landlords must work together to participate in the program, and funds will be paid directly to landlords/rental management companies and utility providers.
The county has made various resources available to assist in the application process, including local intake centers where help is offered in person, as well as a call center staffed with multilingual English/Spanish/Haitian Creole professionals from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday.

COMMUNITY PARTNERS’ CORNER
The CSC continues to support providers and the families they serve through the distribution of PPE and other resources. Agencies needing PPE and Family Resource Guides should contact Andrew Leone aleone@cscbroward.org or Danielle Bachelder dbachelder@cscbroward.org to arrange pick-up.
SELF-CARE / WELLNESS CHECK
Being a teacher is stressful, and that often goes unrecognized, even by themselves.
They juggle the weight of the parents, managing the emotions and behaviors of students, and even pressure from the administrators. And while burnout is the last thing you need as an educator, it happens a lot because teachers carry on with the stress without even stopping to take a breather for themselves.
This is exactly where self-care comes into play.
