Family Resource Guide

Article Submission Request

Dear Community Partners,

The Children’s Services Council of Broward County produces a Family Resource Guide every year. We will soon begin production of the 2023-24 edition. The Guide includes a full listing of agencies and organizations that serve children and families in Broward, important information from the School Board of Broward County, informative articles on child safety, education, and development, as well as a full listing, by zip code, of childcare centers and the services they offer, produced in four languages.

Over 175,000 hard copies are distributed county-wide through schools, pediatric offices, markets, child-serving organizations, and community events. The Guide is also featured online, with articles shared with other local publications. If you would like to contribute an article on subjects related to Family Life, Health & Safety, Child Development, or Child Care, we invite you to submit a manuscript to the following specifications:

A.     700 – 800 words

B.     It must be “generic” to the subject, i.e., not an advertorial for any organization

C.     It must include a byline with the author’s qualifications

D.     As an epilogue, we are happy to include information specific to the author’s agency or organization.

Articles should be submitted no later than April 15th for consideration. As space is limited, we regret not being able to print every article submitted. We will endeavor, however, to share them on our website as part of our News feature. For more information or to submit an article for consideration, please contact Zoë Lewis, Community Engagement Manager, at 954-377-1116 or zlewis@cscbroward.org.

Thank you!

On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) and communities across Broward County will host A Day of Service and Love in commemoration of the 17 loved ones tragically taken and those injured as a result of the tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018.

A Day of Service and Love is an early release day designated as a ‘service-learning’ day for students, staff, and volunteers to come together to support each other through various community service activities at schools across the county.

SELF-CARE/MINDFULNESS

Every February, BCPS recognizes and participates in the observance of National Teen Dating Violence (TDV) Prevention and Awareness Month. This observance is a national effort to raise awareness and promote teen dating violence prevention. Unfortunately, dating violence is more common and starts at a much younger age than expected. We need your help in spreading awareness about dating abuse and in letting our students know they deserve safe and healthy relationships. Incorporate TDV Month into your school’s year-round violence prevention efforts by celebrating all month, focusing on a single week like Respect Week from February 13th-17th, 2023, or having one schoolwide TDV event. View the School Board of Broward County Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month Resolution to learn more.
