In 1887, Oregon became the first state to make Labor Day an official holiday, with Colorado, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York quickly following suit.

LABOR DAY
Being today the first Monday of September we honor the American workers. Labor Day was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894. It also determines the end of summer for many Americans.
