
Five talented piano students from Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) were selected to participate in the Chopin Foundation of the United States’ Young Pianists Concert on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 3 p.m. at the Broward County Main Library Auditorium, 100 S Andrews Avenue, in Fort Lauderdale.
The young talented pianists from BCPS performing in an All-Chopin program are: Christine Chong of Weston from Falcon Cove Middle School, piano teacher Jorge Luis Herrero; Christopher Fonseca of Weston from Gator Run Elementary School, piano teacher Nadine Cherna; James Zhu of Weston from Manatee Bay Elementary School, piano teacher Roxanne Stevenson; Lilly Kraft of Coral Springs from Coral Springs Middle School, piano teacher Jorge Luis Herrero; and Catherine Yip of Cooper City from Cooper City High School, piano teacher Rosalie Gregory.
The students are among only 25 young outstanding pianists, under the age of 18, from Broward and Miami-Dade counties invited to participate in the annual Young Pianists Concert event organized by the Chopin Foundation to present the future stars of classical music in two live performances. Broward students will perform at the Broward County Main Library on Saturday, April 13, and Miami-Dade students will perform in Coral Gables on April 14.
The special concert event is free and open to the public.
