Under the musical direction of Gustavo Dudamel, Mahler´s 8th Symphony took life and filled with emotions the Teresa Carreño Theatre in Caracas.
Director Gustavo Dudamel, a 30 year old Venezuelan, who with his passionate way of directing, has captured audiences from all parts of the world, is the current musical director of the Simón Bolívar Symphony of Venezuela and Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Dudamel, who has just received the Grammy Award for best orchestral performance, for leading the Los Angeles Philharmonic in Brahms’s fourth Symphony, conducted a concert that will not be forgotten by those attending the Teresa Carreño Theatre in Caracas on February 18, 2012.

Directing the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic and the youth symphonic choir of Venezuela, integrated by different symphonic choirs adding up to 1000 voices and 400 musicians on stage, the work of Gustav Mahler took life, when this young director, performed Symphony # 8, the «Symphony of the thousand».
Around 300 children members of the choir, between 7 and 12 years, moved the members of the orchestrasand the audience, giving an example of discipline, love, respect, and professionalism. At their young age, they performed in German this work which talks about forgiveness. After nearly two months of daily trials and being selected, these children were the main characters of a masterful presentation.
The series of concerts called «concert for peace», concluded with a standing ovation that lasted about 12 minutes, the applause and shouts of «bravo» closed successfully, the cycle of Gustav Mahler.
